Adding your own number to Meta Business
On this guide we'll guide you through adding your phone number to Meta Business. This is a requirement for the WhatsApp Business API to work as without it you won't be able to send messages to your customers.
Please note that this guide is not a guide for acquiring a phone number to use with WhatsApp. For that please check this guide on Buying a new phone number.
Requirements
In order to follow this guide you'll need to have.
- A Meta Business Account.
- A Facebook Developer Account.
- A Phone number that you wish to use for WhatsApp and have access to receive SMS messages or calls.
Adding your number to Meta Business
To begin, first go to Facebook Developers and click on My Apps on the top-right corner.
If you don't see a My Apps button, you probably haven't logged in to a Facebook account yet, click on the Log In on the top right corner.
Click on the app you've created on the Developer Account guide.
On the left side of the page you'll see a menu, Under "products" click on WhatsApp. And then on Getting started.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Add a phone number.
Fill in the information required about your company and click on Next.
Now add the details you wish to use for your WhatsApp Business profile and click on Next.
Fill in the phone number you wish to use for WhatsApp and click on a verification method (SMS or Voice Call) and Next.
Wait for the verification code to arrive and enter it on the field and click on Verify.
If everything goes well you'll see your phone number appear on the "From" field on the same page.
You're done! Now let's connect your number to the API and add it to Hilos.
